
Al Carr Endorsed by Montgomery Green DemocratsEfforts on Behalf of Balanced Transportation CitedMaryland House of Delegates candidate AI Carr has been endorsed by the Montgomery Green Democrats, the environmental arm of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee. Carr, one of eight Democratic candidates for the three seats in Assembly District 18, was selected for his efforts on behalf of mass transit and balanced transportation policies, said Bill Jacobs, president of Montgomery Green Democrats. Two other District 18 candidates, James Browning and Noah Grosfeld-Katz, were also endorsed. "Al Carr has exerted major efforts to reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety in his four years as a Kensington Town Council member and within the Maryland Municipal League," said Jacobs, citing Carr's support of local traffic improvements, mass transit, bikeways and greenways. "In addition, he has helped spark civic improvements and community spirit by founding a successful grass roots list-serve in the Kensington community." Carr, who has co-chaired the Coalition of Kensington Communities Transportation Committee, said one of his top priorities as a delegate will be to emphasize sensible transportation options by improving mass transit -including Metro and the 187-mile MARC commuter train system-repairing local roads, and promoting better land use policies.
